the day
Meeting at the Visitor’s Centre Carpark, we’ll begin by getting to know our group and saying hello to our guide – the mountain itself! Throughout the day, we’ll journey to different sites around Mt Field* where Moran will guide us to slow down, notice, and play with this ancient landscape. Each site holds a creative invitation – from mythic stories of ancient rock landscapes, to poems of moss and mist, and the harp/flute music of myrtle trees. We will create space for you to find your own connection with Mt Field, whether that’s lying underneath grandparent myrtles, dancing with the fagus, or sparking your story/artwork/song on the highland moors. Finishing the day, we’ll be surrounded by new friends – humans, trees, and moss alike, refreshed for the trip back to nipaluna/Hobart or beyond! *the sites we explore are weather-dependant. Some options may include: Russell Falls/the Big Tree Walk, Lake Fenton, and Wombat Moor. |

FAQs
How much walking will I be doing? How fit do I need to be?
Each Mt Field Immersion day is tailored to the needs of the group. As a general rule, our walks will be short, but might involve some steep hills/steps and walking on unformed paths. Normally, we encourage slower walking over shorter distances. For some, this can be more tiring than a fast stroll!

I live, work, and play on the stolen lands of the muwinina/palawa/pakana peoples in nipaluna, lutruwita/truwanna (so-called Hobart, Tasmania). I acknowledge that genocide is ongoing, and sovereignty has never been ceded. I acknowledge the sacredness of this land, and pay deepest respects to the past, present, and emerging custodians of these lands and waters. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
