EarthQueer Circle

Are you gender queer, or gender questioning?

This is an autonomous* space for those of us questing beyond the gender binary, to come together, share experiences, and delight in our beingness. Together, we will create a safe and sacred space to explore our gender by deeply connecting with earth, and deepen our earth connection by exploring our gender.

You can read more about ecoqueerness in a recent article "Queering the Earth and Earthing the Queer" here.

* Autonomous: meaning, a space only for those who identify as gender queer, or gender questioning. "Gender questioning" may mean that you currently identify with the gender you were assigned at birth (cis-gendered), but are feeling a pull towards moving beyond the gender binary. Moran is very happy to chat with anyone who may be unsure whether this group is for them!

What does the Circle look like?

  • There will be a welcoming time honouring our arrival into the space. Moran will usually guide a gentle "awareness" practice: something that brings us into presence with ourselves, each other, and earth. This might be a meditation (perhaps with their harp/flute), a body movement practice, or any of a myriad of practices that connect us with the earth!
  • A shared practice using our bodies: we might choose to go for a walk, craft/make something, drink tea - you name it! Often, this is space is also a beautiful time for sharing our experiences in gender questing.
  • What we do, and how we do it, depends a lot on you! What would you like this space to be? What will nourish you?
I live, work, and play on the stolen lands of the muwinina/palawa/pakana peoples in nipaluna, lutruwita/truwanna (so-called Hobart, Tasmania). I acknowledge that genocide is ongoing, and sovereignty has never been ceded. I acknowledge the sacredness of this land, and pay deepest respects to the past, present, and emerging custodians of these lands and waters. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
